This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Ford Motor Company has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1989 F-Series Light Truck and 1989 through 1991 Econolines equipped with 4.9, 5.0, 5.8 or 7.5 Liter engines and dual fuel tanks.

Safety Defect
Your truck is equipped with a dual fuel tank selector valve which is designed to direct fuel the to the engine from one fuel tank and returns unused fuel to the same tank.

It is possible that the dual fuel tank selector valve on your truck could leak internally and as a result return a portion of the unused fuel to the tank other than from which it was drawn.

Should this occur when the other tank is at full capacity, fuel could flow out the filler pipe of the tank past the cap, Fuel spillage in the presence of an ignition source presents the potential for a vehicle fire.

REPAIRS
At no cost to you, your dealer will replace the fuel tank selector valve on your truck.

How long will it take?
The time needed to service your truck is about one hour. However, due to service scheduling times, your dealer may need your vehicle for one full working day.

Call your dealer
Call your dealer without delay. Ask for a service date and if parts are in stock.

If your dealer does not have the parts in stock, they can be ordered before scheduling the service date. Parts would be expected to arrive within a week.

When you bring your truck in, give the dealer this letter.

If you misplace this letter, your dealer will do the work, free of charge.
