ISSUE: Dimming of the headlamps, a weak horn, low battery charge and display of the alternator warning light, may be caused by poor electrical connections between the 14290 and 14401 wiring harnesses.

ACTION: Inspect the 10 way connector for loose connections and, if necessary, splice in a new terminal. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Identify the component causing the concern.

Figure 1:

2. Locate the 10 way connector in Figure 1.

3. Remove the female terminals from the connector that leads to the suspected sensor.

4. Carefully mate the female terminals to the proper male terminals.

a. Rotate the female terminal on the male terminal.

b. Check for looseness of the terminal connection.

5. If looseness is observed, replace the terminal with a new 2" pigtail terminal assembly or use one from a scrap harness.

NOTE: IF THE TERMINAL REPAIR IS MADE FROM A SCRAP HARNESS, REPEAT STEPS 1-5 TO ASSURE A RELIABLE FIX.

6. Reassemble the connector.

7. Splice terminal assembly into the wiring harness using a Dura-Seal butt splice connector (E6FZ-14488-A,B,C).

8. Check the circuit for proper operation.
