Cruise Control Switch: Service and Repair

1. Remove steering wheel hub. Remove hub by lifting outside edges.
2. Remove steering wheel attaching nut, then steering wheel from upper shaft using tool T67L-3600-A or equivalent.
3. Remove control switches as follows:
a. Remove steering wheel back cover, then separate control switch electrical connector from cover.
b. Remove speed control switch assembly.
4. Remove brush assembly as follows:
a. Remove steering column lower trim shroud, then loosen steering column mounting screws sufficiently so upper trim shroud can be removed.
b. Separate speed control brush electrical connector.
c. Remove brush assembly to upper bearing retainer plate attaching screws.
d. Remove brush assembly wire and connector assembly through opening in upper bearing retainer plate.
5. Reverse procedures to install, noting the following:
a. When installing steering wheel, align index mark on steering wheel with mark on steering shaft. Torque steering wheel nut to 30-40 ft. lbs.
b. Torque brush assembly attaching screws to 18-26 inch lbs.
c. Torque steering column mounting fasteners to 17-25 ft. lbs.
