OVERDRIVE SUN GEAR SUPPORT:




The overdrive sun gear support (Figure 1) tends to bend into a dished condition. This may give the overdrive section too much end play, resulting in early failures.

Always inspect the support by laying it on a flat surface to check for dishing. The support should be flat.

Part number for the overdrive sun gear support is E5TZ-7660-A.

If the overdrive sun gear support is dished and is assembled opposite of the way it came out (flipped over), the result may be an early failure, due to no end play in the overdrive section of the transmission.
