Heater Core: Service and Repair

Less Air Conditioning
1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain cooling system.
2. Disconnect heater hoses from heater core tubes. Cap tubes to prevent leakage of coolant.
3. Remove instrument panel from vehicle, then main air duct.
4. Remove three heater case mounting nuts, then the heater case by pulling it straight out.
5. Reverse procedure to install.

With Air Conditioning
1. Remove evaporator case as described under ``Evaporator Case, Replace.''
2. Remove two heater core tube brace attaching screws, then the tube braces and heater core from case.
3. Reverse procedure to install.
