Front Wheel Bearings Replacement

DISASSEMBLY

Disc Brake Rotor/wheel Hub.:




1. Remove the rotor.

2. Remove the bearing grease seal using a large screwdriver. Discard the seal.

3. Remove the hub assembly from the steering knuckle using T87C-1104-A.


Disc Brake/rotor Disassembly:




NOTE: If the inner race remains on the hub, grind a section of the inner bearing race to approximately 0.5 mm (0.0197 inch) then use a chisel to remove the race.


Disc Brake Rotor/wheel Hub.:




4. Remove the snap ring from the steering knuckle.

5. Remove the wheel bearing from the steering knuckle using T87C-1104-A.

6. Unless it has been damaged, the disc brake dust shield should be left on the steering knuckle. It is pressed onto the knuckle and is hard to get off without damage.


ASSEMBLY

Installing Dust Shield:




1. Inspect the hub and steering knuckle for cracks, wear, and scoring.

2. Install the dust shield on the steering knuckle using tool T87C-1175-B with handle T80T-4000-W.

Installing Wheel Bearing.:




3. Position the wheel bearing in the steering knuckle.

4. Using a press, install the wheel bearing into the steering knuckle.


Installing Grease Seal.:




5. Install snap ring into the steering knuckle.

6. Lubricate the grease seal lip with Lubricant before installing the seal.

7. Install a new grease seal using Seal Installing Tool T87C-1175-A.


Pressing Hub Assembly Into Steering Knuckle.:




8. Install the hub assembly into the steering knuckle using a hydraulic press and suitable fixtures.
