Test 8, Ignition Timing Check

1. Connect a suitable timing light and tachometer to the engine. Ensure all accessories are turned off.
2. On models with turbocharged engines, proceed as follows:
a. Ground test connector.
b. Start the engine, then check timing. Reading should be 8-10 degrees.
3. On models with non-turbocharged engines, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect and plug distributor vacuum hoses.
b. Start the engine, then check timing. Reading should be 5-7 degrees.
4. On all models, adjust timing as needed, then proceed to Test 9.
