Neutral Safety Switch: Service and Repair

AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Set shift lever in Neutral position.
3. Disconnect neutral safety switch wiring connector.
4. Remove neutral safety switch from transaxle.
5. Install replacement switch.
6. Install neutral safety switch attaching bolts. Do not tighten at this time.
7. Insert a .079 inch drill bit through hole provided in switch, Fig 5.
8. Torque attaching bolts to 69-95 inch lbs., then remove drill bit.
9. Connect neutral safety switch wiring connector, then battery negative terminal.
10. Ensure starter operates in Neutral and Park positions only.
