Starter Motor: Description and Operation

This starter system has two electrical circuits; a low current and a high current. The low current is the control circuit. It includes ignition switch, starter solenoid, neutral safety switch or clutch switch. The high current connects starter to the battery positive terminal. This circuit uses heavy gauge cables because of high current flow required to operate the starter motor, Fig. 1.
