LEAKS OIL - 2.2 EFI OR TURBO - FROM VALVE COVER GASKET - VEHICLES BUILT FROM JOB 1, 1988 THROUGH FEBRUARY 1989


FORD: 1989 PROBE


ISSUE: Oil leaks may be detected from the rocker arm cover gasket area.

ACTION: Replace the rocker arm cover gasket with an improved gasket now available for service. Refer to the following procedure for service details.


SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Make sure the engine oil leak is coming from the rocker arm cover gasket.

2. If the leak is coming from the rocker arm cover gasket, replace the gasket with the improved gasket E92Z-6584-B. Refer to the 1989 Probe Service Manual, section 21-05, page 11, for details.
