Test Description and Procedure
Test DescriptionNOTE: This diagnostic procedure is used ONLY on vehicles with electronically controlled automatic transaxles.
How to use the Quick Test is referenced in the Appendix at the end of the Quick Test Procedures, following 5.0B - Switch Monitor Test Result Chart. The Quick Test procedure should be used ONLY when the preliminary inspection steps result in a PASS condition.
When directed to a Diagnostic Chart-Pinpoint Test, look carefully at the schematic at the first of each Pinpoint Test, and read the STOP-WARNING statement below the schematic.
Any time a repair is made, CLEAR the memory by disconnecting the small (16-pin) connector on the Control Unit. Remove the 4EAT Tester. Turn ignition switch OFF. Then repeat Quick Test Steps 2.0 and 3.0 to ensure that the repair was effective.
Quick Test Steps:
1.0 Vehicle Preparation
2.0 Equipment Hookup
3.0 Key On Engine Off Test
4.0 Continuous Test
5.0 Switch Monitor Test
CAUTION: If all phases of the Quick Test result in a PASS, it is likely that the problem will be found elsewhere. You should proceed to the Diagnostic Chart-Operational Test for further evaluation.
Correct results of Quick Tests depend on the operation of related non-electronic components.
