ISSUE: Intermittent or inoperative sound from the radio speakers may be caused by the power/ audio cable for the JBL amplifier chafing and shorting out against the amplifier "L" shaped mounting bracket. This could cause fuse link "E" and fuse # 11 to blow. This condition can also cause the power antenna to become inoperative.

ACTION: Re-route the JBL power/audio cable to the outside of the JBL amplifier "L" shape mounting bracket. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

Figure 1 - Article 89-20-7:

1. Remove the rear seat back and finer.

2. Disconnect the power/audio cable as follows:

^ Unplug the cable connectors from the amplifier

^ Disconnect the ground wire

^ Remove the cable locator from the sheet metal

3. Inspect the power/audio cable for cuts or signs of chafing. Repair as required.

4. Re-route the power/audio cable to the outside of the "L" bracket as shown in Figure 1.

5. Re-connect the power/audio cable and ground wire.
