Oil Pressure Gauge - False Readings

90ford04

GAUGE - OIL PRESSURE - FALSE READING - ECONOLINE STRIPPED CHASSIS BUILT PRIOR TO 10/13/89

Article No. 90-4-15

Figure 1:

LIGHT TRUCK: 1990 ECONOLINE

ISSUE: The oil pressure gauge may display a false reading, indicating lower than normal oil pressure. Besides the false reading, the engine warning light will stay on at engine idle. This is caused by the oil pressure gauge circuit not having the proper resistance for the sender.

ACTION: Check the oil pressure circuit board located in the instrument cluster by the left hand connector - right side, for a hole and a resistor, Figure 1. If this exists, replace the oil pressure circuit board. Refer to the 1990 Light Truck Shop Manual, Volume 1 of 2, Pages 31-51-6 and 7 for service details.
