Owner Letter

Dear Owner: April, 1990


This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Ford Motor Company has determined that certain 1990 model Festivas fail to comply to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection".

Condition In cold temperatures, the "fasten seat belts" warning
light may not come on when the ignition is switched to "ON". FMVSS No. 208 requires this warning light to come on for 4 to 8 seconds when the ignition is switched to "ON". This warning light is intended to remind the driver that occupants should fasten their seat belts.

Additionally, the engine oil pressure and electrical charging indicators may not work in cold temperatures. These indicators are intended to warn drivers when conditions exist that may require corrective actions to avoid damage to their cars.

Repairs At no cost to you, your dealer will inspect and, if
necessary, replace a printed circuit board in the instrument cluster of your car.

Your dealer has the service information needed to repair your car. If your dealer does not have the parts in stock, they can be ordered before scheduling your service date. Parts would be expected to arrive within a week.
When you bring your car in, give the dealer this letter.

If you misplace the letter, your dealer will still do the work, free of charge.

Changed address If you have, please fill out the enclosed prepaid
or sold the car? postcard and mail it to us.

If the dealer doesn't make the repair promptly and without charge, you may contact the Ford Parts and Service Division Office whose address is shown in your Owner Guide booklet.
