Subject:
Safety Recall 90S05 - 1990 Festiva Instrument Panel Cluster Printed Circuit Board Replacement

Affected Vehicles
Certain 1990 Festivas built from October 27 through November 27, 1989.

Reasons For Recall
On some of these cars, the instrument panel cluster printed circuit board may have been manufactured incorrectly. In cold ambient temperatures, the seat belt warning light may not function. A seat belt warning light is required by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection", to be actuated for 4 to 8 seconds when the ignition is switched to "ON". Also affected by this condition are oil pressure and electrical charging indicator lights.

To correct this condition, the instrument panel cluster assembly must be inspected for a lot identification number and, if necessary, the printed circuit board replaced.

Sale or delivery of vehicles that do not conform to applicable federal safety standards may subject the dealer to civil penalties under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
