Oil Pan: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Drain cooling system and crankcase.
4. On models with manual transaxle, remove roll restrictor.
5. On all models, remove starter motor.
6. Disconnect exhaust pipe from oil pan.
7. Remove engine coolant tube located at the lower radiator hose, at the water pump and from tabs on oil pan. On models with A/C, position A/C line off to side.
8. Remove oil pan bolts and oil pan, Fig. 11, from engine.
9. Clean oil pan and cylinder block surfaces with DuPont Freon TF or equivalent.
10. Remove oil pump screen and pickup tube and clean thoroughly, then reinstall.
11. Reverse steps 1-9 to assemble, noting the following. Torque oil pan to transaxle attaching bolts to 30-39 ft. lbs. to align oil pan, then loosen bolts 1/2 turn. Torque oil pan to cylinder block attaching bolts to 15-23 ft. lbs., then the oil pan to transaxle attaching bolts to 30-39 ft. lbs.
