Continuous Monitor Diagnostic Test Mode (Wiggle Test)

NOTE: The technician can attempt to recreate and detect an intermittent fault using the continuous monitor mode (wiggle test) mode.

KEY ON ENGINE OFF WIGGLE TEST PROCEDURE

1. With the ignition switch in the OFF position, connect a STAR tester (or equivalent) to the diagnostic connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
3. ACTIVATE, DEACTIVATE, and REACTIVATE the self-test. This action enters the continuous monitor mode.
4. Tap, move, and wiggle the suspected sensor and harness. Manipulate any moving parts of the suspected components. Apply heat from a heat gun to any components involved. If a fault is detected, a continuous memory code will be stored in memory. Refer to the tester documentation to determine how a fault will be indicated to the technician.

ENGINE RUNNING WIGGLE TEST PROCEDURE

NOTE: The engine running wiggle test may be activated any time the engine is running.

1. With the ignition switch in the OFF position, connect a STAR tester (or equivalent) to the diagnostic connector.
2. START the engine.
3. ACTIVATE, DEACTIVATE, and REACTIVATE the self-test. DO NOT turn the engine OFF. This action enters the engine running continuous monitor mode.
4. Tap, move, and wiggle the suspected sensor and harness. If a fault is detected, a continuous memory code will be stored in memory. Refer to the tester documentation to determine how a fault will be indicated to the technician.
