Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair

Removal

WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY AND BACKUP POWER SUPPLY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND BACKUP POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and backup power supply.
2. Remove radio. Diagnostic module is the blue box with two connectors mounted below the climate control head.
3. Disconnect diagnostic monitor electrical wiring connectors.
4. Remove screws retaining diagnostic monitor and bracket assembly to instrument panel brace and remove assembly.

Installation
1. Position diagnostic monitor and bracket on instrument panel and install retaining screws.
2. Connect electrical wiring connectors to diagnostic monitor assembly.
3. Install radio.
4. Connect backup power supply and battery ground cable.
5. Verify air bag indicator.
