Check Engine or MIL Lamp

This lamp will be illuminated when the ignition switch is placed in the On position. After engine is started the lamp should go off, unless a problem has been detected by the system. After diagnosis and repair, the Check Engine lamp will automatically reset when stored trouble codes are cleared from the system memory. After diagnosis and repair, memory may be cleared of stored codes as follows:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then depress brake pedal for approximately 5 to 10 seconds.

2. Reconnect battery ground cable.
