Power Steering Pressure Switch: Description and Operation

Power Steering Pressure Switch (PSPS):






PURPOSE
The Power Steering Pressure Switch (PSPS) signals the ECA when high system pressure causes an extra load on the engine. When the ECA receives the input signal, it compensates by adjusting idle speed to prevent stalling.

LOCATION
High pressure side of power steering hydraulic system.

OPERATION
This is an ON/OFF switch that CLOSES when hydraulic pressure reaches approximately 400-600 psi.
