Component Tests and General Diagnostics

Self Test Connector:

NOTE:No special tools are required to perform the on board diagnostic check.
1. Turn the ignition switch ON with the engine OFF to verify lamp operation. The CHECK ENGINE lamp should light, and remain on until the engine is started.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF. Locate the self test connector in the drivers side rear corner of the engine compartment and ground the Self Test Input (STI) wire.
3. Turn the ignition key ON with the engine OFF to obtain any stored codes. If the check engine light flashes any codes, or flashes continuously, refer to COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS. If the check engine light does not flash, proceed with DIAGNOSIS BY SYMPTOM.
