Control Panel Assembly Replace

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove ashtray and disconnect cigar lighter electrical connector, then remove ashtray retaining screws and the ashtray retainer from instrument panel.

3. Pull center finish panel away from instrument panel to expose heater control attaching screws, Fig. 9. On 4WD Vehicles equipped with electronic shift-on-the-fly module, disconnect wire from the rear of the 4x4/transfer switch before trying to remove finish panel.
4. Remove four screws attaching control assembly to the instrument panel.
5. Pull control assembly through opening far enough to allow removal of electrical connectors from blower switch and control lamp.
6. Disconnect vacuum harness from outside air control.
7. Using a screwdriver or needle nose pliers, release temperature and function cable snap-on flags from control bracket.
8. Spin temperature cable until it is released from T-pin.
9. Pull enough white cable through instrument panel opening until function cable can be held vertical to control. Remove control cable from function lever.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
