EGR Valve Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

RESISTANCE CHECK

1. Visually inspect all vacuum and electrical connections, wires and hoses. Make necessary repairs.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the EVP Sensor.
3. Disconnect the vacuum hose leading to the EGR Valve diaphragm chamber, and connect a hand vacuum pump in its place.
4. With the valve fully closed, measure the resistance between the sensors ground and the return voltage signal terminals.
Resistance should be 3,000 ohms.
5. While watching the resistance reading, slowly apply vacuum to the EGR Valve.
Resistance should increase smoothly up to 5,000 ohms.
