Windows: Description and Operation
OPERATIONWith the Ignition Switch In "ACC" or "RUN", Circuit Breaker 14 is hot, and voltage is present at both Window Switches.
The Window Switch in each door sends current through the Window Motor in one direction for up and in the opposite direction for down. The direction of current flow determines whether the Window Motor armature turns in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction, raising or lowering the window.
When the Window Switches are in the neutral position, both motor wires are grounded through a separate set of switch contacts.
In addition to Circuit Breaker 14, each motor assembly also has an internal circuit breaker to cut off power if a switch is held too long in the up or down position.
