Ignition Timing: Adjustments
1. Warm engine to operating temperature.2. Turn all electrical loads OFF.
3. Connect tachometer and timing light.
4. Disconnect and plug vacuum hoses at distributor vacuum control diaphragm.
Test Connector:
5. Connect jumper wire between black one-pin STI connector and ground.
6. Check idle speed and adjust if needed.
Timing Marker:
7. Make sure yellow timing mark on crankshaft pulley and mark on timing belt cover line up, indicating timing of 6° ± 1° BTDC.
Distributor Rotation:
8. If marks are not aligned, loosen distributor lock bolt and turn distributor housing to adjust.
9. Reconnect vacuum hoses and disconnect jumper wire to STI connector.
10. Tighten lock bolt to 14 - 19 ft lb (19 - 25 Nm).
