INTERIOR TRIM - ARMREST - PLASTIC MOUNTING BRACKET BREAKS

LIGHT TRUCK:
1991-93 EXPLORER, RANGER

ISSUE:
The plastic mounting bracket which retains the armrest to the console may break. It is now possible to replace the console armrest mounting bracket independently of the entire assembly.

ACTION:
Replace the broken armrest bracket with a new steel reinforced armrest bracket. Refer to the following procedure for service details.





1. Remove the console armrest covers, Figure 1.

2. Remove the four (4) bolts retaining the armrest assembly to the console, Figure 1.

3. Remove the armrest assembly.

4. Follow Instruction Sheet # 6489 included in each armrest service kit for bracket replacement.

5. Reinstall the armrest and bracket assembly to console.

6. Reinstall console armrest mounting covers.
