Heated Glass Element: Description and Operation

With the Ignition Switch in "RUN", the Rear Window Defrost Switch receives battery voltage from the METER Fuse. When the Rear Window Defrost Switch is turned "ON", the timer circuit inside the Rear Window Defrost applies a ground signal to circuit 663. The Rear Window Defroster Relay coil is then grounded, and the relay is energized. The ENGINE Fuse feeds voltage to the coil of the relay. When energized, the Rear Window Defroster Relay applies battery voltage from the DEFOG Fuse to the Rear Window Defrost Grid and the Left and Right Power/Heated Mirrors. When the timer circuit in the Rear Window Defrost Switch times out, in about 10 minutes, the relay is de-energized and voltage is removed from the Rear Window Defrost Grid and both Power/Heated Mirrors.
