Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
^ Remove the two nuts attaching three-way catalytic converter to flexible link, muffler and muffler outlet pipe.
^ Loosen and remove the exhaust manifold stud nuts. Slide flexible link, muffler and muffler outlet pipe rearward. Remove the gasket. Move the three-way catalytic converter rearward. Rotate to clear studs and remove.

INSTALLATION
^ Install dual converter Y pipe onto exhaust manifold studs and loosely secure in place with retaining nuts.
^ Install a new non-asbestos gasket between three-way catalytic converter and flexible link/muffler assemblies. Secure flange gasket with two nuts. Tighten to 34-46 Nm (25-34 ft lb).
^ Secure flexible link/muffler assembly to exhaust converter frame bracket. Tighten nuts to 25-35 Nm (18-26 ft lb).
^ Tighten exhaust manifold connections by alternating the tightening of the manifold bolts or nuts to 34-46 Nm (25-34 ft lb).
