Fault Code 53-Sensor Circuits Resistance to Ground or Internal Diagnostic Monitor Failure

Normal Operation

The air bag diagnostic monitor performs several self-tests every time the ignition switch is turned ON. If any of these tests fail, the air bag diagnostic monitor will flash code 53.

Possible Causes

1. Internal self-test failure on air bag diagnostic monitor.
