Power Steering Pump: Description and Operation

The Ford CII power steering pump is a belt-driven slipper type pump with a fiberglass reinforced nylon power steering oil reservoir. The oil reservoir is attached to the rear side of the pump housing front plate and the power steering pump housing is encased within the housing and reservoir. The power steering pressure hose is attached with a quick connect fitting, located below the filler neck at the outboard side of the power steering oil reservoir. The fitting allows the line to swivel and does not indicate a loose fitting.
