Rear No. 4 Thrust Washer Clearance Selection

No. 4 Thrust Washer Measurement:











CAUTION: If you are using a new service center support these service procedures may not be valid. For the correct procedure follow the instructions contained with the new service center support.

1. Place Gauge Bar on case shoulder and set micrometer on top of gauge bar as shown.
2. Extend probe until it contacts No. 4 thrust washer surface at intermediate brake drum.
3. Remove micrometer and record reading as Dimension "A."
4. Move micrometer to opposite side of gauge bar (180 degrees) and repeat Step 3. Record as Dimension "B."
5. Add Dimensions "A" and "B" together, divide by 2, then subtract the thickness of Gauge Bar (17.78mm [0.700 in.]). This is Dimension "C."

Rear No. 5 Thrust Bearing Clearance Selection

No. 5 Thrust Washer Measurement:











1. Place Gauge Bar on case shoulder and set depth micrometer on top of gauge bar as shown.
2. Extend probe until it contacts No. 5 thrust bearing surface at forward clutch.
3. Remove micrometer and record reading as Dimension "A."
4. Move micrometer to opposite side of gauge bar (180 degrees) and repeat Step 3. Record as Dimension "B."
5. Add Dimension "A" and "B" together, divide by 2, then subtract the thickness of Gauge Bar (17.78mm [0.700 in.]). This is Dimension "C."
