Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

Heated Oxygen Sensor:

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Disconnect Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.

3. Remove the HO2S from the exhaust pipe using oxygen sensor wrench T94P-9472-A.

INSTALLATION

1. Reverse removal procedure.

2. Tighten HO2S to 36-46 Nm (26-34 ft lb).

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
