Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

Ignition Module:





REMOVAL

1. Remove the two ignition module/heatsink assembly retaining screws.
2. Disconnect the ignition module electrical connector.

NOTE: To disconnect the module connector, push on the connector where it says PUSH, then slide connector from module.

3. Remove the ignition module/heatsink assembly from the vehicle.
4. Remove the two ignition module retaining screws and separate the module from the heatsink.

INSTALLATION

1. Clean the mating surfaces, then apply dielectric silicone (Ford D7AZ-19A331-A, or equivalent) to the ignition module base.
2. Place the module in the heatsink assembly, then install and tighten the retaining screws to 15-35 lb. in. (1.7-4.0 N-m).
3. Install the ignition module/heatsink assembly on the fender and install the retaining screws. Tighten the screws to 80-124 lb. in. (9-14 N-m).
4. Connect the ignition module electrical connector.
