JC49 - Check For Right Coil PWR - KOEO

WARNING: NEVER CONNECT PCM TO THE EEC BREAKOUT BOX WHEN PERFORMING EI DIAGNOSTICS.

- Key Off.

- Install EI diagnostic harness to the breakout box.

- Connect EI diagnostic harness negative lead to battery.

- Install the right coil tee.

- Use 4.6L EI (High Data Rate) 8 overlay.

- DVOM on 40 volt DC scale.

- Set EI harness box type switch to 8 cylinder position.

- Key On, Engine Off.

- Measure voltage between (+)J5 (COIL PWR R) and (-)J7 (B-) at breakout box.

- Is DC voltage greater than 10.0 volts?

YES -- GO to JC50. JC50 - Check For C1 High at Right Coil Pack - KOEO

NO -- CHECK connectors, SERVICE or REPLACE harness. COIL PWR is open to right coil. REMOVE all test equipment. RECONNECT all components. Clear continuous memory. Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
