PURPOSE
The Cylinder Identification (CID) circuit is used by the PCM to synchronize the bank to bank firing of the fuel injectors. The CID signal is generated by a dual hall effect Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.

CONSTRUCTION
The CKP sensor is a dual digital output hall effect device mounted behind the timing belt cover. The CKP has two sets of shutter blades, one set is used for spark timing, the other set is used for injector synchronization.

CID and PIP Signal Comparison:

OPERATION
The CID shutter blade maintains the hall effect output high (12.0 volts) for 180 degrees of revolution and low (0.0 volts) for the remaining 180 degrees. The fuel injector banks are synchronized to fire when the CID signal changes states.
