PB10 - Continuous Code 219: Check Spout Circuit Continuity
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 219 indicates the spark timing has defaulted to 10 degrees Before Top Dead Center (BTDC). The Spark Output (SPOUT) signal has a variable duty cycle with amplitude that varies from 0.4 volt to B+. In the event of a SPOUT failure, the Ignition Control Module (ICM) will generate a fixed dwell and constant spark angle based on Cylinder Identification (CID) and Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP) signals (Failure Mode Effects Management).
Possible causes:
- Damaged Ignition Control Module (ICM).
- Damaged SPOUT circuit.
- Key "OFF".
- Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Inspect for damaged or pushed out pins, corrosion, loose wires, etc. Service as necessary.
- Breakout box installed, leave PCM disconnected.
- Disconnect ICM (Pins 1-6).
- Measure resistance between test pin 36 at the breakout box and SPOUT circuit at the ICM vehicle harness connector.
- Is resistance less than 5.0 ohms?
Yes -- Go to PB11.
No -- Verify in-line SPOUT connector is properly connected. If OK, service open circuit. Reconnect all components. Rerun quick test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)
