Brake Light Switch: Description and Operation
PURPOSEThe Brake ON/OFF (BOO) Switch sends a signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to disengage the torque converter clutch when the brake pedal is depressed. This signal may be ignored by the PCM if the throttle position signal is above closed throttle.
It also signals the Rear Anti-Lock Brake (RABS) module that a braking condition is about to occur and controls current flow to operate the stop lamps.
