Noise at Wheels When Brakes Applied/Scrape or Grind







POSSIBLE SOURCE(S):
- Worn brake linings, loose rivets or foreign material between lining and brake drum or front disc brake rotor.

ACTION(S) TO TAKE:
- Replace rear brake shoes and linings. Refinish or replace brake drums or front disc brake rotors if excessively scored

POSSIBLE SOURCE(S):
- Brake shoe interference with back of brake drum, shield-to-rotor clearance or binding at backing plate guide ledges.

ACTION(S) TO TAKE:
- Inspect. Replace as necessary. Lubricate.

POSSIBLE SOURCE(S):
- Other brake system components.
- Warped or bent brake backing plate causing interference with brake drum.
- Cracked brake drums or rotors.
- Loose brake shoe hold down springs.

ACTION(S) TO TAKE:
- Inspect and repair as necessary

POSSIBLE SOURCE(S):
- Tires rubbing against chassis, body, or loose brake shoe hold down springs.

ACTION(S) TO TAKE:
- Inspect. Repair as necessary.
