This article is being republished in its entirety to update the Service Procedure and to clarify the parts involved.

ISSUE

Some vehicles equipped with 4.0L OHV engines may exhibit a loud A/C clutch engagement. Using a different design A/C clutch hub/disc assembly may reduce this A/C clutch engagement noise.

ACTION

Replace the current designed Leaf spring style A/C clutch hub/disc assembly with the 3-eye style clutch hub/disc, part number F3DZ-190786-A, and adjust the A/C clutch air gap to 0.35-0.85 mm (0.014-0.033 in). Refer to the appropriate Workshop Manual for removal and installation procedures.
