G: CS Displayed, Gauge Blanks Out Tank Symbol and Lights Top Two and Bottom Two Bars of Gauge

G1 CHECK FUEL SENDER WIRING AT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER


^ Disconnect battery ground cable


^ Remove instrument cluster and secure connectors from shorting.


^ Using Rotunda Digital Volt-Ohmmeter 014-00407 or equivalent, measure resistance between Pins 6B and 8B (SIG GND) of harness.


^ Is the resistance 10 ohms or greater (normally 10 to 172 ohms)?


Yes

REPLACE instrument cluster.

NOTE: AFFIX odometer sticker to door pillar.


No


Short exists in harness or sender. GO to G2.



G2 CHECK FUEL SENDER WIRING


^ Disconnect battery ground cable


^ Lower fuel tank to gain access to fuel sender connector.


^ Unplug connector to fuel sender.


Measure the resistance between Pins 6 and 8 (GND) of harness Connector B.


^ Is the resistance greater between 10 and 172 ohms?


Yes

REPLACE fuel sender.


No

SERVICE fuel sender wiring for short circuit.
