End Play Adjustment
1. Remove steering gear from vehicle.2. Torque sector shaft cover bolts to 32-40 ft lb.
3. Loosen worm bearing adjuster plug locknut and tighten worm bearing adjuster nut until all endplay has been removed. Lubricate worm shaft seal with drop of power steering fluid.
4. Turn worm shaft to full right position. Using inch pound wrench mounted on steering wheel nut, measure left turn torque required to rotate worm shaft 1 1/2 turns. If torque requirements exceed 5-6 in lb, tighten or loosen adjusting nut until proper preload is obtained. After adjusting, torque locknut to 14-25 ft lb.
