Model 28-IFS
The front axle is an integral carrier housing, hypoid gear type, in which the centerline of the drive pinion is mounted above the centerline of the ring gear. The
differential carrier is made of aluminum and mounts directly to the left axle arm assembly. To remove the RH axle stub shaft, the carrier must be removed from the support arm to release internal C-clip. The drive pinion gear shaft is supported by two opposed tapered roller bearings which are assembled in the carrier housing. The differential case assembly is supported by two opposed tapered roller bearings and cups, which are retained in the housing by removable caps. The left axle arm assembly also acts as the housing cover.
