Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

Heated Oxygen Sensor:

REMOVAL

NOTE: If excessive force is needed to remove Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S), lubricate with penetrating oil prior to removal.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Disconnect HO2Ss from engine control sensor wiring.

3. Raise vehicle on hoist.

4. Remove HO2Ss from dual converter Y pipe (SF250) using Rotunda HO2S Tool T94L-9472-A or equivalent.

INSTALLATION

1. To install, reverse removal procedure.

2. Tighten HO2Ss to 36-46 Nm (26-34 ft lb).

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
