EVAP 2 - Vacuum Test Fuel System

^ Remove fuel vapor hose at canister.

^ Install a plastic vacuum fitting in the fuel vapor hose and add a small piece of vacuum hose to other end of the vacuum fitting.

^ Install a vacuum pump at the open end of of the small piece of hose.

^ Apply 5.2 kPa (1.5 in Hg) maximum vacuum with the vacuum pump.
^ Is the fuel system holding vacuum?

YES -- Fuel tank, fuel vapor hose and gas cap indicate no leaks. Remove vacuum pump. Reconnect carbon canister. Go to EVAP 4. EVAP 4 - Check Vacuum In EVAP System

NO -- Service as necessary the fuel leak or EVAP vacuum leak (gas cap, fuel vapor hose or fuel tank). Repeat vacuum check on this part of the system to verify service.
