Lamp Out Module: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
With the main light switch in the PARK or HEAD position and a burned out bulb is sensed in any of the three lamp circuits, the lamp out warning module will illuminate the lamp out warning indicator on the instrument panel.

OPERATION
Special vehicle wiring harnesses are used with these circuits. Each lamp circuit contains a resistance wire that provides about 0.5 volts to the module when the bulbs operate. If one bulb is out, only 0.25 volts is available. This difference is detected by the lamp out warning module and the lamp out warning indicator illuminates.
