Engine Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electric charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.

2. Remove the three Powertrain Control Module (PCM) nuts.
3. If equipped, move the anti-lock brake module aside.
4. Pull the PCM down to access the electrical connectors.
5. Disconnect the PCM electrical connectors.
6. Remove the PCM.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the PCM.
2. Install the PCM electrical connectors.
3. If equipped, reposition the anti-lock brake module.
4. Install the three PCM nuts.
5. Connect the battery ground cable.
