46 - Open Splice Rad. Support Center Sensor Ground Monitor
Electrical Schematic:
Normal Operation
The air bag diagnostic monitor measures the resistance between pin 22 (Circuit 620 P/LB) and Pin 3 (diagnostic monitor reference ground). If the air bag diagnostic monitor measures a difference of more than 2.0 ohms between pin 22 and pin 3, it will flash a Code 46.
- Pin 22 is used in a three sensor system as the third sensor ground monitor. Because only radiator support center air bag primary crash sensor and bracket and frame rail front air bag primary crash sensor and bracket are used here, pin 22 is spliced into the ground monitor of the radiator support center air bag primary crash sensor bracket.
Possible Causes
High resistance on pin 22 (Circuit 934 BR) to ground can be caused by:
1. An open or damaged wire in Circuit 620 (P/LB) from pin 22 of the diagnostic monitor harness connector to the splice which joins it to the P/LB wire coming from pin 21.
