REMOVAL
1. Remove and discard sufficient brake fluid from the brake master cylinder reservoir (2K478) to allow for brake fluid displaced by compressing the rear disc brake caliper piston.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
4. Remove the rear brake hose-to-caliper flow bolt and washers. Discard the washers.
5. Using an eight-inch C-clamp, position the clamp frame on the inboard side of the rear disc brake caliper housing. Position the clamp screw on the outboard brake shoe and lining backing plate. Tighten the C-clamp to press the rear disc brake caliper piston into the caliper bore enough to release pressure on the rear brake shoe and lining.

CAUTION:Do not press against the brake shoe and lining spring clip. To avoid damage to the spring clip, compress piston only enough to free the caliper (about 0.7mm [1/16 inch]).

6. Remove the C-clamp.
7. Remove the two disc brake caliper bolts.
8. Pull the rear disc brake caliper (2552) off the rear wheel disc brake adapter (2C220).

CAUTION: To prevent interference with rear disc brake caliper operation, install only the correct caliper bolts.

INSTALLATION
To install, reverse the removal procedure. Make sure the stainless steel shoe slippers are correctly positioned. Replace if worn or damaged. Tighten the disc brake caliper bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft lb). Install new caliper-to-rear brake hose washers. Tighten the rear brake hose flow bolt to 40 Nm (29 ft lb). Refill the brake master cylinder reservoir. Perform system brake bleeding procedures.
