Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

A/C Condenser Core Assembly

SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REOUIRED

Removal


1. NOTE: Whenever the A/C condenser core is replaced, it is necessary that the suction accumulator/drier also be replaced.

NOTE: If an A/C condenser core leak is suspected, the A/C condenser core must be leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle. Refer to Climate Control System for the leak test procedure.

Discharge refrigerant from A/C system at service access gauge port valve location on suction line. Observe all safety precautions.








2. Disconnect two refrigerant lines at fittings on RH and LH side of radiator following procedure for disconnecting spring lock couplings.

3. Remove tour bolts retaining A/C condenser core to radiator support and remove A/C condenser core from vehicle.

Installation

1. Position A/C condenser core assembly to radiator support brackets. Install retaining bolts.

2. Connect refrigerant lines to A/C condenser core assembly using procedures for connecting spring lock couplings as outlined.

3. NOTE: A/C performance will be affected if the condenser seals are not correctly installed. The following illustration details the various seal locations.

Leak test, evacuate and charge refrigerant system following recommended service procedures. Observe all safety precautions.
