Ambient Light Sensor: Description and Operation
PURPOSEThe Day/Night Mirror Autolamp Sensor monitors ambient light to control autolamp relays.
OPERATION
As light level decreases, sensor resistance increases to preset amount energizing relays, turning ON headlamps, exterior lamps and instrument illumination lamps.
The autolamp delay can be adjusted by sliding the autolamp delay control toward the left for early activation or to the right for later activation.
The Day/Night Mirror Autolamp Sensor is equipped with a glare control feature.
When the rear facing light sensor in the mirror glass senses the light from the rear, a chemical layer in the glass is energized causing it to darken and absorb light.
